Gustavo Kerestezachi was born in San Isidro, Buenos Aires, Argentina, on August 3, 1942 to a family of musicians on his mother's side. At the age of 5, before he learned how to read and write, he was studying piano and could read music. The prestigious Williams Conservatory gave him his first title of professor at age 12. He continued his studies at the conservatory in Argentina. Composer Alberto Ginastera, who at that time was director of the National Conservatory of Music, personally gave him the admissions exam outside the school year, at his mother's insistence that he be enrolled in the conservatory. He entered the school the very day of his exam, astounding Maestro Ginastera with his acquired technique and extremely developed musical ear. There he completed his studies in composition, harmony and counterpoint, under the greatest maestros, among them Gilardo Gilardi.

At 18 Gustavo already knew that jazz was to be his life goal. He played with Joao Gilberto at the famous club "676" on a visit to Buenos Aires. He joined a group that performed at the Regina Theater, with Gato Barbieri. He also played in Astor Piazzola's orchestra and in concerts with trios of his own, including performances at the theaters Provincial de La Plata, Teatro General San Martín, and the famous Mogador. Together with Adalberto Cevasco (bass) and Pocho Lapouble (drums) he recorded an LP in 1966 which was released a few years later. He also recorded the LP "Jazz at the Embassy" with Jorge Anders.

He met Michelin Day, vocalist for Oscar Aleman. She lived with Gustavo until his last days. The two settled in Paris in 1972 and remained there for almost 30 years. He taught piano and music. He toured the old continent with European as well as Argentinian musicians. Gustavo composed the Ode to the Falklands (Malvinas) which premiered in Buenos Aires at the Teatro San Martín. On that occasion he traveled to Argentina where he remained for about six months. Returning to France, he was awarded the prize for Best Young Musician.

Gustavo died in Paris in 2003.

With this short piece I fondly recall my only brother, with whom I shared great moments of our lives.
